Case Study: InRhythm Pulse
Barnes & Noble
The Client
Barnes & Noble, Inc., is a US bookseller. It is a Fortune 1000 company and the bookseller with the largest number of retail outlets in the United States.
The Opportunity
Barnes & Noble was looking to go through a digital transformation and needed help to get their teams and business units (9 business units all operating independently) aligned for a rollout of the BN application to iPad and Nook.
The InRhythm Impact
Barnes & Noble turned to InRhythm as a trusted partner to help them navigate this transition. InRhythm conducted two 3-day bootcamps for all of the business units. InRhythm’s Bootcamps are designed to empower teams to adopt and to internalize Agile practices. Our hands-on approach helps software engineers, project manager, scrum managers, QA and executive leadership make the Agile transformation and get InRhythm with a series of practical learning exercises. The “more action, less lecture” style makes the training personalized, engaging, and interactive. Your team will walk away with a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of Agile, Lean, Kanban, and Lean-Start-up principles to apply immediately to jump-start their high-velocity product development.
InRhythm embedded four coaches for one year and coached over 200 people and helped Barnes and Noble roll out two major releases and make the transition from a traditional brick and mortar business into a high performing online powerhouse.
The team successfully launched two major releases from ideation through deployment within twelve weeks. The nine independent units developed together rather than separately, and reduce time to market from nine months to every thirty days.
